[DYED] - Mordant liquid dye
Mordant dyeing is a process of fixing threads and fabric with plant pigments. Basically, dyed threads or fabric are dipped in aqueous solution of aluminum and lead for mordant dyeing. However, COTTLE uses wood vinegar as a mordant.
Wood vinegar is a purified liquid made by boiling wood charcoal and bamboo charcoal.

This time we ventured to dye the product thickly with just the mordant. A generous amount of expensive wood vinegar was used to dye.
Compared to conventional sulfur dyes and reactive dyes, wood vinegar has the potential to dye materials into a color that becomes more beautiful with age.
This dye also has strong antibacterial properties. The softening process takes place at the end of dyeing, making the hardness, which is characteristic of the mordant, smoother.
